All-Inclusive – Simple, Predictable Pricing

We’ve made our pricing model as simple and predictable as possible.

Step 1: Pay a one-time entry fee of $2,750.

Step 2: Pay a small, one-time fixed fee per device that covers everything for five years (or more, as needed). This includes cloud services, signalling, unlimited invocations, unlimited messaging, unlimited P2P streaming and access to all SDKs and cloud APIs.

Finally, your IoT connectivity solution is fully compatible with your bill-of-materials! Now you can price in remote access just as you would price in a hardware component in your design – avoiding the risk of complex and unpredictable running cost.

We’re able to offer such affordable pricing as our decentralized P2P platform only uses the cloud to mediate connections. This means we’re able to avoid costly cloud storage by hosting data at the device level, with the majority of traffic occurring between devices on the edge once connections have been mediated through our cloud.

One-time Fee per Device for 5 Years All-Inclusive Service

You pay a fixed one-time fee per device to cover all costs for connectivity services for five years (additional years of connectivity can be purchased as described in the next section).

In order to qualify for a specific production tier, you have two options:

Option 1: Pay as you go, starting on the Base Tier price. Every device purchase is accumulated in a yearly window, allowing you to progress through tiers. Once a given tier is reached, you can purchase devices for a year at the given price.

Option 2: Purchase at least 25% of the required amount upfront. For instance, the 25,000+ Tier price of $4.50 per device will apply immediately if you purchase services for at least 6,250 devices in a single batch.

Purchasing Additional Years

If you know in advance that the expected lifespan of your product exceeds five years, you can purchase an additional five years of connectivity at a 30% discount. This can be purchased upfront and prices are listed below.

You can also choose to purchase an additional five years of connectivity after your plan starts, but a discount won’t be applied.

What’s more, platform customers can use the additional five years of connectivity to generate an  additional revenue stream, by upselling end-users at a cost above the wholesale price for the additional five years of connectivity when their current subscription nears its end date.

Nabto Pricing Model Examples

What does Nabto’s pricing look like in reality? Take a look at these examples to see our pricing model in action.

Example 1: Yearly Production of 400 Devices

Company A produces around 400 devices a year and the estimated lifespan of its devices is 4 years.

To enter the 200+ Tier, Company A needs to buy service for at least 50 devices (25% of 200), which needs to be purchased upfront.

Therefore, the initial invoice will be:

Entry fee 2,750.00 USD
Device service fee : 50 x 10.00 USD 500.00 USD
In total 3,250.00 USD
Entry fee $2,750.00
Device service fee : 50 x 10.00 $500.00
In total $3,250.00

Now going forward, the company will buy services for 100 additional devices around every 3 months, at $10 per device.

Example 2: Yearly Production of 1,500 Devices

Company B wants to connect its manufactured devices using Nabto. The company produces around 1,500 devices a year (125 devices per month). The estimated lifespan of its devices is 8 years.

The company wants to buy prepaid connectivity for the estimated lifespan of the devices right away as they are certain their devices will last more than 5 years.

The company also wants to buy batches monthly.

To qualify for the 1000+-tier, Company B needs to buy service for at least 250 devices (25% of 1,000 devices), which needs to be purchased upfront.

Since Company B wants to buy 10 years of service upfront, the second 5 years of the plan duration will be charged at a 30% discount, which is $5.43 per device.

Therefore, the initial invoice will be:

Entry fee 2,750.00 USD
Device service fee : 250 x (7.75 + 5.43) 3,295.00 USD
In total 6,045.00 USD
Entry fee $2,750.00
Device service fee : 250 x (7.75 + 5.43) $3,295.00
In total $6,045.00

Once 250 device licenses have been used after two months, the company buys batches of 125 devices per month at a rate of $13.18 (the cost of an initial 5 years at $7,75 plus the discounted cost of the second 5 years at $5.43).

Example 3: Yearly Production of 30,000 Devices

Company C produces around 30,000 devices a year. The estimated lifespan of the devices is 5 years.

The company chooses to sell the product to end-users with 5 years of hosting included, with an option that end-users can extend hosting for another 5 years for an additional fee, after the initial 5 years has elapsed.

The company chooses to buy devices in 3-month batches.

To qualify for the 25,000+ Tier, Company C needs to buy service for at least 6,250 devices (or 25% of 25,000) upfront.

Therefore, the initial invoice will be:

Entry fee 2,750.00 USD
Device service fee : 6,250 x 4.50 28,125.00 USD
In total 30,875.00 USD
Entry fee $2,750.00
Device service fee : 6,250 x 4.50 $28,125.00
In total $30,875.00

Going forward, Company C will buy 7,500 licenses every 3 months at $4,50 per device.

The company chooses to create an option in the app to allow their customers to buy an additional 5 years of hosting at $12.50. With it costing Company C only $4,50 per device to extend hosting for another 5 years, they will create a profit margin of $8.00 per device each time a customer extends their service. This end-user in-app renewal option can be integrated with Nabto’s backend services so everything functions automatically.

FAQ

Yes, the device fee is a one-time payment for 5 years of connectivity to the specific device. Further years can be purchased in 5 year segments.

There are no monthly or annual costs. You only pay the one-time entry fee and the once-every-5-year device fee.

Yes, if you go to the Nabto Cloud Console you can download free licenses and get access to the basestation and documentation.

Sometimes customers may under or overestimate the number of devices that will connect to the platform, which will result in them falling into a higher or lower production tier than the one they chose at the beginning of the contract.

If a customer connects more devices within an annual contract period than the production tier that they chose, they will immediately start paying the cheaper higher tier device fee, for all subsequent devices that are connected.

If a customer connects less devices within an annual contract period than the production tier that they chose, they will be charged the new applicable production tier device fee from the start of the next annual period.
