What does RTC mean?

Real-time communication in IoT is a set of protocols and/or platforms that facilitate communication between devices with the lowest latency possible. This is typically accomplished via a peer-to-peer infrastructure that enables direct communication between two peers: a client device (such as a smartphone or personal computer) and an IoT device (such as a smart surveillance camera or anything else that can connect to the internet).

Today, the range of IoT enabled devices is growing more than ever. If you need devices that are highly responsive and can communicate without delays, RTC is generally the way to go. The important thing is to figure out what kind of connection type you need to manage the devices in the most optimal way.

Benefits of RTC connections in IoT

HIGH PRIVACY

In P2P RTC, all data is stored on the device, nothing is stored in the cloud. The end user has full control over the data, as there is no third-party server involved.

LOW LATENCY

RTC technologies and protocols are all designed with the fastest communication and fewest delays in mind.

COST EFFECIENT

The cost to run a P2P RTC infrastructure is much lower than traditional solutions: We only mediate connections. Your total price for 5 years of all-inclusive connectivity is down to a few USD per device.

Developer P2P

DEVELOPER FRIENDLY

There is no critical cloud application to develop or configure with our RTC IoT platform. The developer only has to focus on the client application and the IoT device application.

END-TO-END ENCRYPTION

With a P2P-based IoT platform, the connectivity between end-user client and IoT device is end-to-end encrypted to ensure very high security.

NO FIREWALL HASSLE

While many RTC IoT options struggle to get through firewalls efficiently, this is not the case with Nabto. Our system creates a direct connection from end-user client to IoT device without any trouble with the firewall.
